This trip was actually for a mission to get some inexpensive accessories for my home desktop computer.
TLDR I got myself the following
- XLR microphone cable
- cheap desktop speakers
- good cheap webcam
- Lunch
It costs me about 800 Yen for a round trip to Akihabara. So I had to make sure it’s worth the trip. That’s a basic concept that often gets overlooked.
2nd hand Microphne Cable at “Hard Off”
Yes that is the name. They sell 2nd hand / pre-loved hardware items. The good thing about buying 2nd had stuff in Japan is that it is still really good.

You need some luck to find what you are looking for in the junk area. I just got the cable from the regular 2nd hand items. 800 yen is a good deal for 3 meters of cable. I just find it unusual that they did not allow me to test the cable.

Desktop Speakers at “Shop Inverse”

These are brand new but it was really cheap. Since it is USB-powered it would be easier to install. I don’t need loud speakers so this was enough. I also asked if i can test it there. They didn’t agree.

Webcam at “Pasokon Kobo”

This was also brand new, it was a bit cheaper than was listed on Yodobashi so i guess i was lucky.
But the store also sells 2nd hand stuff. The used graphics cards are very cheap. see the shop on google maps ( link here )
Kitsune Soba at “Hakone Soba”

I was so into the adventure that I forgot to eat lunch. I saw this small diner “Hakone Soba”. I got myself some “kitsune Soba”. Kitsune Soba is just fried tofu on soba. I don’t know exactly why I like it. must be the gentle sweetness.
I ordered through the machine. This is very common for fast food shops like this. Maybe I should go around and see the different kinds of ordering/ticket machines.
